Burning Information and Current Burn Bans

Note: All outdoor burning is prohibited during times of impaired air quality, such as during a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Burn Ban.

Is there a temporary or fire safety burn ban in my county? What is the fire danger level where I live? Please call the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-323-2876 for more information or visit the Department of Natural Resources County Fire Danger site.

Please download the Residential Burn Permit for Cowlitz County (Adobe PDF format) for use when burning piles of natural vegetation greater than four feet by four feet by three feet and less than ten feet by ten feet by six feet. Not applicable in the No Burn Areas of Longview/Kelso, Castle Rock or Woodland. For residential or land clearing burning in unincorporated areas of Lewis County, contact Lewis County Community Development. Before downloading a permit, check with your local fire department or city hall for area-specific restrictions and permits.

CLARK COUNTY

The Stage 2 Burn Ban for Clark County is lifted.

All land clearing burning is prohibited while the fire danger level is at a moderate. Residential burning is allowed until the Fire Safety Burn Ban goes into effect on July 15. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits (no burn barrels) in designated campgrounds. For more information and maps of the permanent No Burn Areas, click here.

COWLITZ COUNTY

All land clearing burning is prohibited while the fire danger level is at a moderate. Residential burning is allowed until the Fire Safety Burn Ban goes into effect on July 15. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits (no burn barrels) in designated campgrounds. For more information and maps of the permanent No Burn Areas, click here.

LEWIS COUNTY

Lewis County's Fire Safety Burn Ban is set to begin July 7 at which time all outdoor burning is prohibited except for small recreational campfires. Call 360-740-1133 for a recorded message on burn restrictions. All small, recreational fires are allowed within UL-approved burning receptacles (not burn barrels) or approved campfire sites. No residential or land clearing burning is allowed within the permanent No Burn Areas. For additional burning information and maps of the permanent No Burn Areas, click here. SKAMANIA COUNTY

Skamania County's Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect July 1 through September 30. These dates may be expanded depending on fire danger. While the Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect beginning July 1, only small recreational campfires will be allowed.

WAHKIAKUM COUNTY

All land clearing burning is prohibited while the fire danger level is at a moderate. Residential burning is allowed until the Fire Safety Burn Ban goes into effect. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits (no burn barrels) in designated campgrounds.
