Burning Information and Current Burn Bans

Is there a temporary or fire safety burn ban in my county? What is the fire danger level where I live? Please call the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-323-2876 for more information or visit the Department of Natural Resources County Fire Danger site.

Please download the Residential Burn Permit for Cowlitz County (Adobe PDF or Word format) for use when burning piles of natural vegetation greater than four feet by four feet by three feet and less than ten feet by ten feet by six feet. Not applicable for Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue District or in the Longview/Kelso No Burn Area. For residential or land clearing burning in unincorporated areas of Lewis County, contact Lewis County Community Development. Before downloading a permit, check with your local fire department or city hall for area-specific restrictions and permits.

CLARK COUNTY

Residential and land clearing burning is allowed outside of the permanent No Burn Areas of Clark County with the proper permits. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in improved fire pits in designated campgrounds. For specific burning information, click here or call the Southwest Clean Air Agency at 360-574-3058.

COWLITZ COUNTY

Residential and land clearing burning is now allowed outside of the permanent No Burn Areas with the proper permits. For more information, click here or call SWCAA at 1-800-633-0709.

LEWIS COUNTY

Residential and land claring burning is allowed outside of the permanent No Burn Areas. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in improved fire pits in designated campgrounds. For specific burning information, click here or call the Lewis County Fire Marshal's office at 360-740-1146.

SKAMANIA COUNTY

The fire safety burn ban for Skamania County has lifted. Residential and land clearing burning is allowed with the proper permit. Small, recreational campfires are allowed within approved areas. For specific burning information, click here or call the Southwest Clean Air Agency at 1-800-633-0709.

WAHKIAKUM COUNTY

Residential and land clearing burning is now allowed with the proper permits. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in improved fire pits in designated campgrounds. For specific burning information, click here or call the Southwest Clean Air Agency at 1-800-633-0709. For more information, call Wahkiakum County Public Works at 360-795-3301.
