Burning Information and Current Burn Bans

Note: All outdoor burning is prohibited during times of impaired air quality, such as during a Stage 1 or Stage 2 Burn Ban.

Please download the Residential Burn Permit for Cowlitz County (Adobe PDF format) for use when burning piles of natural vegetation greater than four feet by four feet by three feet and less than ten feet by ten feet by six feet. Not applicable in the No Burn Areas of Longview/Kelso, Castle Rock or Woodland. For residential or land clearing burning in unincorporated areas of Lewis County, contact Lewis County Community Development. Before downloading a permit, check with your local fire department or city hall for area-specific restrictions and permits.

CLARK COUNTY

A Burn Ban for all of Clark County will be in effect as of July 15, 2010 through September 30, 2010. This burn ban prohibits all residential, land clearing and silvicultural burning throughout Clark County. Recreational fires are still allowed at this time. COWLITZ COUNTY

A Burn Ban for all of Cowlitz County will be in effect as of July 15, 2010 through September 30, 2010. This burn ban prohibits all residential, land clearing and silvicultural burning throughout Cowlitz County. Recreational fires are still allowed at this time. LEWIS COUNTY

All outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice, except for recreational fires contained within UL-approved burning receptacles or approved campfire sites. For current restrictions on residential outdoor burning, please contact Lewis County Community Development at 360-740-1146. SKAMANIA COUNTY

Skamania County's Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect as of July 1, 2010. All Skamania County self-issue permits are null and void. All silvicultural burning land clearing burning is prohibited as of July 1, 2010 as well. Recreational fires will be allowed in properly installed fire pits only. WAHKIAKUM COUNTY

All outdoor burning on forest land is prohibited July 15, 2010 through September 30, 2010. For current restrictions on residential outdoor burning, please contact Wahkiakum County Public Works at 360-795-3067.
